George Gilbert Buttery


George Gilbert Buttery (#7) and Fanny Lizzie Suffell (#8)

George was born on 13th October 1896 at 194 Dewsbury Road, Hunslet. 
He was the son of John William Buttery (#34) and Mary Ann Maude (#47). 
Known as Gilbert, his occupation was that of Analytical Chemist within the Gas Industry.
He studied for his diploma at Leeds University and was a CENG MIGASE.  
George died on 14th November 1959 in Weston-Super-Mare.  

Fanny was born 2nd February 1897, 37 Gordon Street, Holbeck. 
She was the daughter of William Suffell (#105) and Ann Millington (#106). 
Fanny died on 15th April 1979 in Northcroft Hospital, Erdington, Birmingham and was 
cremated at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium.
Known as Cissie (from her brother Fred's affectionate term for her), she worked as a 
Clothing Clerk until the time of her marriage.

George and Fanny were married on 22nd December 1920, in Princes Field Primitive Methodist
Chapel, Glover Street, Holbeck by the Reverend J.N. Naisbitt and R. Wordsworth, the Registrar.
The service was witnessed by Herbert Vernon Buttery and Lily Power.

George was living at 18 Cranbrook Avenue, Hunslet at the time of their wedding and Fanny 
was living at 39 Littletown Lane, Holbeck.
