George Thomas Maude (#203) and Martha Brook (#204)
George was born on 3rd August 1838 in Holbeck and was the son of George Maude (#513)
and Ann Hartley (#514).
Martha was born on 7th September 1841 and was the daughter of Thomas Brook (#515) and
Mary Newell (#516). Martha died circa 1929 aged 87.
George and Martha were married by licence on 13th September 1861 in the Parish Church of
Brewery Field, Hunslet. The service was conducted by licence by Nicholas Greenwell and the
incumbent, Robert Fenteman and witnessed by Thomas Brook and Priscilla Maude.
George was married from 32 Marshall Street and Martha was married from 10 Trent St, Brewery
Field, Hunslet Moor.
By 1864 they were living at 19 Trent St, Hunslet but by the time Mary Ann was married they were
living at 12 Cambrian Terrace.
At the time of their marriage George's occupation was given as Mechanic but by the time of Mary
Ann's birth his occupation was given as Provision Dealer. Their marriage certificate shows that
Mary Ann's father was a grocer so it seem likely that George entered that trade as a direct
result of his marriage.
George's children:
i Mary Ann Maude (#47) was born on 17th October 1864.
ii Herbert Maude (#205).
iii Ruth Maude?
