Anthony Suffell

Anthony Suffel (#534) and Elizabeth Tinkler (#535)

Anthony was the son of Henry Suffell (#618) and Elizabeth was the daughter of John Tinkler (#622).
Anthony and Elizabeth were married on May 13th 1840 at the Parish Church of Feliskirk (sic).
Their marriage was performed by Edward Jowett, Curate and was witnessed by John Suffel and
Margaret Suffill. (Note the spellings!)

Both Anthony and Elizabeth's ages were given as 'fullage' thereby implying that they must have
been born prior to 1819.

They were both working as servants at the time of their wedding. Anthony was working in 'Sutton',
this was probably Sutton-under-Whitestone-Cliff, North Yorkshire which is only a few miles south
of Felixkirk. Elizabeth was working in Darlington.

William's birth certificate gives Anthony's occupation as Agricultural labourer but on William's
marriage certificate it is given as Farmer.
However William's marriage certificate also stated that his father's name was Bartholomew Anthony
Suffell.
The various spellings of the surname are as transposed from a variety of documents and wherever
possible the original spelling has been retained.
Anthony and Elizabeth's children:
i Jane Suffill (#603) baptised 26th February 1841 in Felixkirk.
ii Elizabeth Suffill (#602) baptised 27th March 1843 in Felixkirk.
iii Anthony Suffell (#575) was born circa 1848.
iv Thomas Suffil (#580) born circa 1856.
v William Suffell (#105) was born on 31st October 1859.
vi Samuel Suffell (#604) baptised on 5th October 1861 in Felixkirk.
